I’m with O2 and I tried to send a picture message to a UK number last week but it wouldn’t send. When I rang O2 to find out what the problem was they said multimedia messages could only be sent to Irish numbers. Is this true or was the guy fobbing me off? I’m on prepay if that makes any difference. Seems bloody ridiculous and I’ve never heard of other networks blocking them.

Officially it's not possible. Some people say they've managed to do it but O2 don't support it.

The guy is giving you a correct answer.

Meteor don't support international MMS either. I'm not sure about Vodafone but I don't think they do either.

Thats just weird. I know my mother has no problems sending them with Vodafone so what are they doing differently that O2 & Meteor cant?

I assume it's just a matter of them setting up agreements with other networks and O2/meteor not doing.

It doesn't strike me as a service that's in demand much, maybe O2/Meteor are focussing on other areas and feel the same?

Whatever about the broader international scene, O2 are well integrated in the UK and could provide this service easily. It is bizarre that MMS was introduced as a recognisable standard on different handsets and they have'nt set up some mechanism for delivering the messages everywhere.
