    ...if you fail to complete the first year of your course, instead of repeating the year can you switch to another course?

    Yes, but you'll have to pay for it. The free fees from the government covers each year once. There are exceptions, such as if you didn't complete the year due to illness.

    Well if I were you I'd do it as soon as I could. You might be a bit late. Ring Admin and talk to someone in admissions.
