Are the component cables plugged into the correct inputs on the TV? Have you tried the player with another TV? The cables might be the problem, you could try the second set of cables (if you got them with the player).

Let us know how you get on.

I have tried the 2 set of cables.
I have tried it on 2 TVs
I have plugged it in right socket
I have updated firmware to 2.0
    but still...no use
    tv out is not working

    please suggest

On one of the TV's i tried the TV out would not work when I plugged the TV out cable into the 3 individual plugs (the yellow white and red cables into the yellow white and red plugs on the TV).
I solved that by getting a Scart box that I could plug the cable into (like the thing event recommended from aldi in a previous). I got one of these from my playstation 2 maybe you could try that.

I have the same one to connect my laptop to TV.
Using that scart switch adapter, I connected to my TV
    but failed
i was not able to see tv out working

Probably time to start posting all the issues, tips likes and dislikes etc. into the Portable Media Player forum? I a few questions so might start a thread there.

Has anybody actually had to deal with ibood over faulty goods? What are they like to deal with? I bought two of the commodore player yolkies, one for me and one for my sister. Mine is grand, hers... isn't. She wouldn't be the most technologically advanced person alive, so she hasn't upgraded firmware or anything like that and can't figure out how to get her data on to it. Not to mention the fact that she bought it primarily as an mp3 player and isn't impressed with its functionality in that respect. That is beside the point, though.. she gave it to me to upgrade firmware, fill it with stuff, etc, and the first thing I tried to do was reset it as it wouldn't power on. Turns out it was just out of batteries, but I noticed that when I tried to reset, the paperclip doesn't make contact with a button, it just slides the whole way in. Not good on a unit which enjoys crashing so much. I was going to contact ibood this morning before I do any firmware upgrades or anything like that, I don't want to void warranty. What's the best way to go about it? Are they usually quick to respond?

    Thanks!

I reckon your better off ringing them. I received my commodore minus a set of headphones 2 weeks ago. Have been mailing them since with no response. Gonna try ringing them today

What does 'rough yout tv out cable edges' mean? I still can't get it to record from tv/dvd. Tried 2 tv's and both sets of cables. Is it a case of the colour connections being too tight and need to be pushed out/loosened?
tv/lock button appears to just toggle between a blank and normal screen.
It appears to be recording oke but no sound or vision coming through on the playerr
    Thanks in advance

    :(

When playing music through the audio files, on all tracks the audio jams for about 3 secs when a songs just finishing before playing out the last couple of secs and moving on to the next track.

Anyone any ideas how to resolve this - I've never heard of this problem on any player before. I really don't want to have to send it back for repair or whatever because I'm off travelling in 2 weeks for the summer and bought this for that specific reason!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,694 ✭✭✭Dingatron

What are you playing MP3/WMA? You sure its the player and not the files. Try and use another mp3 file that you haven't encoded. Also try different formats to ensure its definitely the player and not the files. I haven't tried mine for music yet but I'll check mine tonight if I get a minute.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭Nunu

    It's definetly the player.
I just checked the demo songs pre-loaded onto it and they are the same. All audio files have the problem (wma/mp3)
If you can check your demo songs, see if you have the problem.

I have that problem I'll try updating the firmware later myself

just tried out a few different tracks there and doesn't seem to be happening on mine. Have you changed any of the settings?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,694 ✭✭✭Dingatron

Not happening to me using my own mp3's and the demos. (9 minutes of jazz lol) Firmware 1.2.1

yeah i get that too. and a boat load of other glitches and crashes..

    but i figure fcuk it..
    only 99 squibs.

Hey Nuno, did you ever solve this problem or did you just send it back ?
Mine is doing likewise. Very annoying

I'd keep an eye on ibood as they may have them again. There was a guy on adverts.ie selling one a few days ago but not sure if he sold it. For the price its a great pmp. I've definitely got the value out of my one. It was great on holidays for the kids at night. Keep meaning to copy my Hi8 tapes at some stage. Only thing its missing for me is a remote and the time record maybe. But for the price its grand. I think the battery life is starting to degrade a bit and not sure if it can be replaced?

I know this is an extremely late reply:o but I just saw the thread title on the main page and it tweaked my interest!

You won't believe how jammy I was on this.
I did indeed get in contact with Ibood to see if the problem could be resolved. I was informed that a replacement was impossible(they weren't manufacturing them anymore), but that they could arrange a refund if I sent details. Then a few hours later I got another email saying there was no need for any details because they had me on file and refunded the price to the credit card. There was no mention of sending the player back.
I was in NY for the summer and when I got home and checked my Mams credit card statement it had indeed been fully refunded...I still have/use the player:D
