"Sharing is not supported for this type of printer"

I want to have all our printers set-up on one server and then control user printer setup through login scripts.

Most of the printers are using jetdirect cards but we also have a few with built in networking support. I have added all the printers to the Win2003 file and print server. However I cannot share them! When I got to properties for the printer and click on the sharing tab it says "Sharing is not supported for this type of printer".

The way I have added the printers is just by specifying the IP address in the add printer wizard. How can I share out these printers?

Is it a fax printer, and is this a Windows XP OS?

Nope just normal hp 1200s and the like. The OS is 2003.

Since posting ive been looking into it and I now see that in the ports tab the description of the port is "Internet port" rather than a standard TCP/IP port. This must be whats causing the problem.

    How do I change this?

Ive actually sorted it now. I had to go in through local printer rather than network printer. Abit misleading really.
