MidLANs = Midlands Local Area Network.

It's a gaming community thing. You bring your computer, and with about 20 other enthusiasts, hook up to a central server, (in a hired room on a day out) and play tournaments (Half Life, Halo etc), and share the contents of your own hard drive at the same time (MP3's, DivX/MPEG movies/DVD's, and so on).
