Namco system 22 emulated!!!!!!!!

System 22 emulation is now a reality, well for ridge racer 2 and rave racer anyway.
I've been plugging away at ridge racer 2 for a few hours now and its great emulation, i'm only running a p3-500 and the emulator runs really well considering how hopeless zinc is on my machine.
I don't have a copy of rave racer to try yet and i'd really like to give it a go as its alot better than 2.

Games to look forward to include tekken 3, tekken tag, alpine racer....etc.

Emulation has been quiet for a while, nice to see a new release and a good one at that.

They have a link in the news to the emulator as well as the news site they got the information from (which MAY/or may not have a direct download of ridge racer 2 on said news site...)

Well that took a while to find...:rolleyes:
I got roms (7.26mb) available at you know where;) and emu and can't get it to work:mad:
By the way if you have anything less then 1ghz and 256mb it's not worth it according to the read me.
Anyone got it working yet? I'll have to try again later

No so grasshopper. To run it at FULL spec you have to have a 1GHz machine and alot of ram, with a geforce type card.
But they guy has thought of us ppl with fupp all money to upgrade our systems. Just set the texture reduction to 1/2 and it'll run 60fps solid. Thats taken from my machine which is a p3-500 with 128 megs of ram and a tnt 2 ultra, which these days is crap. The textures are warped anyway so running the game at full spec makes no difference.

Theres alot of things he needs to iron out but its clearly a great piece of coding.

the only dump out there is the one with the crc errors. aparently the gfx glitches are caused by the badness of the dump to. it should work after a few goes. but i aint had any luck after i moved to xp on friday night. it just wont start at all.

I have yet to read of anyone with the correct CRC, i've spoken to alot of ppl, and everyone has the same crc errors. Even screeners from various websites that were given the rom are the same.

R Belmont (had a small part to do with impact etc.) said a few days back that the texture errors are a matter of the emulator and not that dump. Much alike the tekken 1/2 errors.

Xp isn't an emulator friendly OS, i wouldn't be bothered tho. So long as the maker doesn't get spammed with crap mail i'm sure we'll see a better release very soon.

As for the link, i gave no "link" to the rom, i told you where you could find it and its where almost everyone is getting it so it is working. Try using a resuming download proggy.

Well with a bit of luck he'll be able to refine his code further to allow folks with lower spec's to experience true emulation of the game.

I downloaded it too, however, I get a load of crc errors (I know these don't matter) and then a sound initialisation failure and the emu quits out. Thats in Win98 btw.

It also supports pads which is weird, my sidewinder fell on the floor and i noticed that the car moved. Supports analogued pads at that. once again wuhooo

Nothing i've pointed links to will work as a rom, they're merely fix files for the rom itself

from the screenies it seems to be of an ok quality as well. It should run ive a p770 with 369 megs of ram and a good old fashioned tnt2.

thanks bugs, this game is brilliant, the sound is classic, the new graphics great, and its speeds along, i was comparing this to ridge racer 4 on ps2 and this version is a lot faster

Seemingly rave racer is around but only the emulator writers are giving out the correct dump and very few ppl have it.

Rave racer (for anyone whose played it before) is probably one of the best ridge racer series games, music's pretty awful but the tracks are great.

Have gotten the emu and Ridge Racer 2 working now.
Have to say thanks to bugs for all the help.
was wondering about Rave Racer myself actually.
