Battlefield 2 Nations Cup

OK guys please have a look at http://www.esl.eu/eu/bf2/news/29462/. Basic premis is :

ESL announces Battlefield 2 Nations Championship
After the success and support from the community of the 8on8 and 5on5 Conquest Summer Cups, and the 5on5 POE2 Opening Cups, we've decided to bring yet another event to the ESL Battlefield 2 Community, this time in the shape of the ESL Battlefield 2 Nations Championship.

It's your chance to represent your country, and earn bragging rights over all your competitors in both 8on8 Conquest and 5on5 Infantry. These cups will be played with the same rules as the SummerCups, but with 1 exception. Only 3 players from a clan will be allowed to play at 1 time for a nation in 8on8 Conquest, and only 2 players from a clan will be allowed to play at the same time in 5on5 Infantry. This will prevent 1 powerful clan from a Nation from dominating the competition. However, if you come from a smaller nation, do not worry, as exceptions might be made for nations where there are only 1 or 2 competitive clans. A players' clan is defined as any team which he is currently a member of, and is active in ESL. In this way, non-competitive teams such as http://www.esl.eu/eu/bf2/team/1201038/ do not count towards the player limit. In the case of a dispute, the admins hold the final decision.

Basically for the 5 v 5 team we can make that up from 2 clans, and for the 8 v 8 we can make it up from 3, though they may allow less.

First things first we need a captain. So we need nominations etc.

Count me in, we could probably bend those rules as we would most likely be considered a smaller country with few teams, infact we would probably be considered to have no competitive teams in ESL terms. Still it would be a good laugh to take part.

doesn't this mean 3 clans or at least 2+(1 extra player) will be needed. I reckon it'd generally be a good idea to keep clan players from the same clan together where possible.

Yes, we frequently discuss how you should be committed.

I would think it would be better to divide up the clans, for the fairness, but on the other hand, keep people who are used to playing as a team together?

Right there have been very few responses to this. I also posted a message re this on the NRG shout box last week.

If people are not interested then I will ask people directly to be in a team and move on. An inf team should be easy to build as there are some very good infantry players out there.

As for a full conquest team then again the infantry end of it is pretty much covered, however we will need a dedicated tanker, and chopper pilot and gunner, or even better a pilot who can seat switch and gun.

Leaving this another few days then I'll start working on a team!

but even better co pilot. Was doin well with rope when he played i think. Ain't flown in ages so maybe a lil rusty :rolleyes: Useless in tanks though

If heads were put together, Im sure 2 top class team could be assembled.

Played in the New Zealand team for the world cup and was the dedicated inf/Chopper pilot

Yeah EVD thats normally the case. However smaller countries with fewer "active" clans as such may be allowed to have more players from each clan. There are a few players at the moment from tig, NRG, and another Euro clan along with a few non clan players so I'm sure we'll be able to russle up a team.

Once we get a captain in place, the first requirements from ESL, we can then look at getting teams selected.

We should have a fairly decent inf team.
