i just noticed that i suddenly got 5 emails (4 in my yahoo and 1 in my gmail), now that might not sound unusual but i just switched my computer on for the first time in 24 hours and there was 1 mail in my email notifer and then suddenly 4 more arrived.
i gave my email addresses to some of those sites from the freebie list forum.

i might be worrying about nothing but it seems more than a coincidence to me that i suddenly get 4 emails a few minutes after i switch on.
im wondering do sites have spyware on me and know when i switch on.

i have spybot s&d installed and updated it on saturday.

If you have been getting junk emails, this is called spam, not spyware.

Not really, if you were notified through a program that connects to these accounts. Were you notified through Yahoo! Messenger\Google Talk\GMail Notifier? Because these applications can only detect new emails when you are signed into them.

Well, thats it then. That extension won't check unless Firefox is open. It just happened to pick up emails that were sent to you in the 24 hours that the computer was off. Its possible that you may be the target of spam emails since you gave your email out (I presume you mean you entered it in a web form), but its unlikely that you have spyware just because you got notifications of a couple of emails at once. Happens to me all the time when I switch on.
