Buying a Zen Vision:M in the US

    Hi,
I'm thinking of getting a Creative Zen Vision:M when I visit the US, are there any issues with buying a non-European Zen? Amazon, Best Buy etc. have them for about $250 as opposed to about €285 over here. From reading the forum, only the firmware seems to be different, and presumably this can easily be changed.

Any recommendations for high street shops to get one would be appreciated too. Thanks!

If I had an American Zen Vision M, I wouldn't change the firmware. The only difference that I can see is that the American firmware will allow the player to go to higher volumes.

You might want to check out the warranty situation. Everything else should be fine.

I know there was a fellow on the creative forum who bought one on the web from an american store
He had issues with it and creative Ireland sent him out a replacement under warranty

I got zen micro in america about 2 years ago and there was a problem with it which creative fixed no questions. didnt even look for a receipt.

They must have known it was an american one because of the serial number but they didnt say anything...

Thanks folks, they see to be down to $229 (about €185) in places like Circuit City, so it's well worth the effort!

Thinking of doing the same at Christmas, I heard the creative warranty is only valid in the currenty of purchase, but this is good news :)

I hope they release the 60gig version soon, because I could get a 60gig model in the US for less than the price of a 30gig here :)
