Looks good as it is. :D Nothin needing to change.

    If your budget allows for more the changes i'd make are as follows in this order;
    512mb x1900xtx
    E6600 core2duo

Edit: go for creative x-fi extreme music, not much more expensive.

haha just looked at your sig :)
    very similar
i'd like the 512mb version of the card but they only get a few in an they are snapped up whereas the 256 version they have 30 in stock
i'm not going for the 6600 as i don't feel the cost of over 100 euro is worth the jump
yeah i think i'll change the soundcard
do the Zalman coolers make much difference to the sound and temp?
    thanks for your help

Here, 14 in stock, nice price: http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=320626

Good choice. E6400 clocks much higher than the E6600, i think its something bout having smaller cache. It takes less voltage to do higher fsb speeds & therefore temps are lower. Some peeps on xs forums got them up to 4Ghz on air.

Zalman isn't as quiet as you might think, but a lot quieter than most coolers. Great for temps tho.

its the x1900xt 512mb i was trying for which is better than the 7900gt according to toms hardware comparison chart
have you tried Oblivion with that rig?

 Have it installed, but not played it yet. Been 2 busy playin Fear, COD2 & Doom3. Its a whole new world when you can play with everything maxed out. Might give it a go later on.

cheers to Pog for showing me this thread

To Pog and Superfly, what was the total cost of your rigs, including everything (shipping and the like)

Mine cost round 2 grand without the gpu, already had that. Had monitor, keyboard, wireless mouse & 5.1 speaker system

mine is coming in at €2021 with shipping off Komplett
i upped the sound card to the one Pog suggested and upped the PSU to a 600w as i read that that GFX card is a PSU killer
you'll really enjoy Oblivion and i'm sorry now i didnt hold off playing it till i got this new machine

You really really really don't need a 600watt PSU.

I got a 500watt Seasonic and with E6400 @ 2.8ghz, 2 gigs PC6400, X1900XT, 2 hard drives, 2 burners and an xfi the PSU doesn't even get slightly warm. In fact the fan stays close to minimum speed, I can barely feel any air coming out the back of it and the tiny but that is coming out is cool. I'd say I would have gotten away with a 430watt PSU no problems at all.
