Well, if Wikipedia says so...

    Dum de dum de dum...

i was merely observing that wikipedia had made changes and was just amazed at the quick and presumptious fashion it was done. I agree that until the club confirms the news it is not actually true

good business for the Gunners. Nver really like Reyes. Has he been spotted in talks with anyone?

Never liked him either. he lacked the passion and enthusiasm you want to see from an arsenal player and didnt even bother chase a ball or at least make it difficult for Puyol in the CL final despite being fresh having only came on

Still nothing official on either deal yet...

Word is that the Cole deal is £15m plus Gallas. Fantastic business if that's the case.

lol, stories from Spain are saying Villarreal have agreed to sign Cygan for £2m!

    YES!

    From the beeb:
ARSENAL: News from Arsenal! A defender is off in a big-money deal. That's right, Villarreal have agreed a £2m fee for Pascal Cygan (2152).
Surely this means Gallas is coming in now.

Icelandic Arsenal fans website that says the Cole/Gallas thing was done at 8.5 million. They'd know, wouldn't they. :D

Cygan and Cole out, Gallas in

    Reyes out Baptista in

    All very good

Great business regarding the Cygan deal. Who would have thought someone would actually pay to take him from Arsenal's hands!
Now let these other deals be confirmed soon.

    to quote the guardian updates

"10.12pm WILLIAM GALLAS HAVING A MEDICAL AT ARSENAL! It's about to end - really, it is."

hehe the Guardian updates are great:

9.06pm Arsenal always seem to get what they want in the transfer market, don't they. Remember when they made tens of millions by selling Overmars and Petit to Barcelona a few years ago (who subsequently did nothing there)? Reyes and Cole both made it clear they wanted to leave at the start of the summer. Rather than flogging them to the first bidder, Arsenal kept them up to the last minute so they could get the best possible deal. In return for these two players they've got two perfect replacements - Gallas and Baptista - plus, presumably, a big bagful of cash from Chelsea which they might yet splash elsewhere. Great business. United, on the other hand, have been resigned to losing Keane and Van Nistelrooy in the past year, and they've replaced them with Carrick (£18m) and, well, nobody.

9.57pm "Cygan for £2m?" says a disbelieving Angelo. "That definitely confirms your idea that Arsenal get what they want when it comes to transfers."

only 40 mins for baptista deal now as it as to be sorted by 12 in spain or 11 here

Argghhh if this deal goes south AGAIN I'll lose the plot! Apparently they are still arguing over Baptista's valuation, they've agreed €22m for Reyes.

It'll work out, dont worry ;)

10.34pm The swap deal involving Reyes and Baptista has been confirmed. Reyes is quoted as saying: "I've just signed and I'm the happiest man in the world." He clearly hasn't heard how happy Glenn Roeder is that he's snuffled Sibierski.
    Woo!
ARSENAL: The first edition of The Sun has arrived at 2230 and it claims that Arsenal have accepted a deal of £5m plus William Gallas for Ashley Cole from Chelsea.
We've been shafted if the fee is only £5m, but I suspect it isn't considering that the source is the sun.

Sun reporting £5M plus Gallas for Cole...?

    Bit cheap no?

Edit: Missed that part of your post above :o

The beast is on the way..

Real Madrid have announced the one-season loan signing of Jose Antonio Reyes from Arsenal, with Julio Baptista joining the Gunners from Real on the same terms.

5 million is a bit cheap. Put another 10 on there and it would be right.

maybe a little cheap considering circumstances, but in terms of players worth

I'd put Gallas at the 9-12m mark,

and Cashley at 15-18m so not really at that much of a loss IMO

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 13,016 ✭✭✭✭jank

Hmmm 9-12 million for a 30 year old defender is a lot!
    Id vaule him at 5
    Didnt chelsea bid 19?

So about 14 million is about right.

Jaysus great news about Júlio "The Beast" Baptista joining and that whinger going to Real.

And then I see Cygan is gone too fecking hell this is dreamland...

Now just Cashley to sort out, well if they don't he can rot on the bench until Jan, that will learn him :D

Gallas (he's 29) is easily worth 10mil. Gallas + 10mil for Cole would be a good deal, i think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,639 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

Gallas is worth about 5 million.
    Cole at least 20 million.
If Chelsea do that deal it will the deal of the century.
Arsenal are going to be very short at the back now that Cygan's gone.

So Chelsea are saying this has gone through, although there's no joint statement on there. I would seriously doubt it's for gallas + 5 million though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,472 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

****in hell, it's on bbc now. They're saying it's £5m too.
