Head to the national park, it's full of volcanic hotspots. You can throw grass down and watch it ignite just from the heat. I believe there is also a restaurant which cooks food on these hotspots.

There's also bars and clubs everywhere

Hey Buzz... There's a "things to do in..." forum just next to this one, so this will probably be moved.

Anyway, things to do in Lanzarote...

Hire a car, go to Timanfayna National Park and take a trip around the Lunar Route (you can only go by tour bus or one of their busses, no cars). From there head back out to Yaiza and onward to El Golfo. Head east from there and you'll eventually get to Mirador del Rio, which has spectaular views. From there, south toward the old town of Teguise for an interesting walk (but not on market day!).

If you don't drive, you can arrange the "grand tour" through your travel rep. You'll see most of the above, but won't have as much time at any of the stops to enjoy them properly. You'll probably get taken to a vinyard too!

Try to go to Arricife for a half day (that's enough to see the town) and head out to Playa Blanca where you can take a boat to Fuerteventura for a nice daytrip.

Puerto Calero is the departure point for a few interesting water based excursions. I would highly recommend the Catalanza cruise, but try to get the adult only one so you're not tripping over kids all day. They serve more beer on the adult only cruise too!

If you're staying in Puerto Del Carmen, go to Bistro Montmartre next to the Biosfera shopping centre for a great meal in a great atmosphere.

    Have a great time.
