Sounds like one of those things for deterring mice/insects. Myself and one of the younger girls in the office can hear the one in here but the older people can't.

    Whoopdeedoo.

    43 - Can't hear it.

If only they could make music tracks like that for so many city centre pubs, so the young folk could be deafened and those of us that want to have a conversation, could.

Can hear it perfectly well, very annoying to hear though.

Can easily hear it....it actually hurts my ears! (under 20).

This cropped up at the weekend here. TV in my room is emitting a very high pitched whine, which I find distracting. Boyfriend however can't here it at all.
I drag in a flatmate and he hears nothing either.

So I go online and look at some pitch tests. I play the 15KHz one (which, I believe, is approximately the pitch of these "teenage only" ones) and I can hear it fine, as can they. 16KHz and it's fainter to them but bloody annoying to me. 17KHz and I'm going "ouch!" and they're both shrugging their shoulders - hearing nowt. 18KHz and, naturally they hear nothing, and I'm still wincing. It was quite interesting really for me to be going "that's bloody irritating!" and the others living in blissful silence (even with me being the eldest).

    Painful. I'm over 30.

Dog whistles are much higher than that by the way.

It's suprising to see how many people over 20 can hear it since it supposably can't be heard by aging ears.

22 and can hear it. Not painful, just really irritating!!

Yes but I would assume most of those over 20's would be in their 20's or very early 30's . I assume quite a lot of people 35+ wouldn't hear a thing .

    [under 20] and it's fecking annoying .

Yip not a problem, we tested in physics how high we could hear. Unfortunately I can hear to a very high and very very annoying pitch.

I thought it was when you were over 30 that your ears started to degrade?
