It could be due to all the foreign nationals coming into the country, perhaps? Also, people have more money these days to spend on better food and are generally more able to take care of themselves.

Everyone seems to be getting more overweight, greedy and vile to me.

So many ugly fat babies running about too.

I guess it depends on where you live I guess.

i thnk peole these days are taking more pride in their appearance, and its like one big competition out there, everyone trying to look better than the next. Then there's the cosmetic surgery getting more and more popular everyday, and always new cosmetics out for this and that...

thebaz - You're a fussy chap. What about the teens, fifties, sixties, etc? Talk about narrowing your options!

    Durrty!

Think Irish birds have definitely come on in looks since the old days. Better food maybe.

In fairness, despite all the threads on boards to the contrary, Irish women are, proportionately, better looking than most of the rest of Europe, with the possible exception of Italy. We run neck and neck with the Poles and ex Soviets but, proportionately speaking, still narrowly beat them. The funny thing is, if you got 100 Irish birds and 100 East Europeans, you would find far less downright ugly birds amongst the E Europeans, but if you were to pick a top 5 from each group, chances are the Irish group would narrowly beat them.

Emigration or deportation to Australia was probably the worst event in Irish history. Judging by the shots of the crowds after the WC win the other day, the most genetically healthy Irish and Brits emigrated there, resulting in a nation where 90% of the females look like they should be on Neighbours and Home and Away.

If there had been no emigrations/deportations to Oz, all those tanned blue eyed blondes would still be here

Check out football matches, game shows, editions of Top of the Pops - any type of programme that features "ordinary people" - from the 70s and 80s and you will see that people are WAY uglier than they are today!

Have to say I was disappointed in Italy, always thought the Italians had the best looking women in the world but tbh, it's a serious minority of them that are hot.

    Irish girls ftw.

There famous for being charming and witty not good looking(imo thats much more important anyway:) ).There are a few exceptions but on the whole if you walk down grafton street or head out to a nightclub you'll probably see at least 20 or so good looking women and for every 20 good looing girls there'll be one good looking fella.

    i know.
In the late 19th century, about 50,000 Irish immigrants were in Argentina. Distinct Irish communities existed, including Irish schools and a news paper, The Southern Cross, until the Peron era in the 1950s. In the 1880's the Argentine government sought to promote immigration from Ireland and sent two agents to Ireland to recruit young and able-bodied migrants. The agents, however, promised more than they could deliver and when 2,000 Irish arrived aboard the City of Dresden ship they were plunged into destitution. News of the scandal, known as the Dresden affair, reached Ireland, and scared away future travellers. Today there are about 500,000 people of Irish ancestry in Argentina.

Che Guevara, whose grandmother's surname was Lynch, was another famous member of this diaspora. Guevara's father, Ernesto Guevara Lynch, said of him: "The first thing to note is that in my son's veins flowed the blood of the Irish rebels". On March 13, 1965, the Irish Times journalist Arthur Quinlan interviewed Che at Shannon Airport during a stopover flight from Prague to Cuba. Guevara talked of his Irish connections through the name Lynch and of his grandmother's Irish roots in Galway. Later, Che, and some of his Cuban comrades, went to Limerick City and adjourned to the Hanratty's Hotel on Glentworth Street. According to Quinlan, they returned that evening all wearing sprigs of shamrock, for Shannon and Limerick were preparing for the St. Patrick's Day celebrations. (Scotsman Newspaper, The night Che Guevara came to Limerick, Sun 28 December 2003)
