As a flipside to the "People you fancy but wouldn't dream of telling your mates" thread.

Scarlett Johansson. Not unattractive, but pretty darn plain. Yet she's widely considered drop-dead stunning? Do people actually believe this or is it slick marketing? Not one word of her apparent gorgeousness was mentioned when Ghostworld came out? Then Lost in Translation, a great movie but very hyped up, arrives on our screens and she's the world's hottest female. Is she really? Or were people told so many times that they started to believe it?! Please don't get me wrong. I'm not the jealous type and I think she's a very talented actress. I'm just puzzled by all the infatuation.

Dont be jealous because you look like homer simpson. She is pretty tasty, but I wouldnt say the hottest. I guess the media tell it to people, most will listen and obey (most of the time me included)

Ah heres a common one, Paris Hilton. I dont know about anyone else but Id rather a few brain cells in a woman also and she aint that hot, shes also like a twig. I would rather someone I can hold without risking breaking her legs or something.

Looks like an Alien in that picture. One woman I never ever found attractive was Britney Spears (in her pre trailer trash days), always thought she was as bland as....whatever. Also hate that english one....emily something? The one with the massive forehead that was on brookside. I think she's ugly, but all the lads seem to think shes one of the hottest females on the planet.

Totally, Irishpimpdude! Aw, I feel mean now. After a Google image search, I have discovered she is indeed stunning with make-up and whatnot. Actually, she seems to have blossomed into a beauty in the last couple of years. But when Lost in Translation came out, she was far plainer and the above pics of her were the ones doing the rounds at the time, yet that was when all the gushing started.

she was 16 when she made ghost world. calling her hot then would not have gone down well in prudish america. still preferred thora birch in that film though.

anyway, britney spears does nothing for me. never did.

did a thread on this ages ago., kate moss. i just dont get it. keira knightly as well, all right i suppose, but ive pulled better down a night club so i really dont get the fuss. same with scarlett johansen, the add shes doing for the moment (i think its for eyeliner/lashes) makes her look like a dog.

in fact most of what comes out of hollywood these days arent that impressive. off the top of my head i cant actually think of anyone i'd fancy rampantly. they all seem to be flat chested little so and so's:(
