More suited to the food/drink forum but I wont get enough replies in time. Family going away for a month and I have to make up a food shopping list for myself for tomorrow morning. What would YOU put on it ? My minds gone blank.

I might bank in on this. Family are going away for a week on Tuesday.

    Very bold Tusky!
    Larger audience
    - Posting on AH simply "to reach a larger audience" may result in a ban. The thread will be moved/deleted. If your thread is more suited to another board then please post it there. After Hours is to discuss non-specific topics and issues in a general way. If you have a serious Political or News post, they should be posted on their specific forums.
    :p

    Regarding what to buy-
Bread, milk, coffee/tea, sugar(if there isn't any and providing you eat it), cereal.
Buy whatever you need for sandwhiches and other quick snacks.
Whatever you think you'd like to eat for your dinners, a few frozen pizzas wouldn't be any harm, more of that kind of stuff thats quick to make and nice to eat.
If you think you'll be arsed cooking proper meals for yourself then go for the foods you like, meats, fish etc.
Personally when the parents are going away I stock up on pastas and sauces since it's easy to make and tastes good.
A few snacks, get multipacks obviously to stretch your money - crisps, bars, biscuits etc.
Juices, drinks, whatever you like drinking (that isn't alcoholic) etc.

Don't buy anything you think you'll eat but when it comes to it you won't be bothered cooking.
    Hope that helps. :)

I'd suggest getting oats to make porridge - can't go wrong there. Avoid cereals.
Beans, tinned salmon, whole grain brown bread, fruit like apples oranges plums stawberries ... Spinach, Meat like chicken, red meats, Oily fish v. important to get some omega 3,

Mixed Nuts and seeds to snack on, green tea, rice cakes, brown rice, potatos and pasta, vegtables like carrots, parsnips, buy some stuff for a fry up like rashers and stuff, cheese, butter, orange juice [actually it's just better to make your own]

once you go shopping you'll see everything and be like ''oh yeaaah i need those'' :D

If you know how to cook it a whole chicken is a good bet. You can roast it the first day and then use the left overs to make a curry or chicken pie or something like that. Alternatively you can make a lot of sandwiches out of anything that's left.

I know people have suggested pasta already but what about some mince to go with it to make a bolognase, or you could use it to make shepard's pie or even home made burgers.

I'll have you know Food and Drink is a very active, friendly and helpful little forum! *sniff* :'(

Anyway, the following should be adaptable for a large number of meals (also, do you have a good stock cupboard? Dried herbs/spices/condiments sort of thing?):

    Milk
    Butter
Bread (keep it in the freezer & toast it up, it'll last for ages)
    Frozen peas
    Broccoli
tinned pulses- chickpeas/kidney beans (for chilli n' stuff)
    Rice
    Pasta
    Spuds
    Tins of tomatoes/jars of passata
    garlic
    onions
a selection of your favourite veg
    mince
    chicken breasts
    porkchops
    sausages
    cheese
    lettuce
    tomatoes
    yoghurt
    biscuits >_>

If you get all these, feel free to come into the F&D forum, or more specifically, the cooking/recipes subforum, tell us what you have & what you want to eat, & we'll give you a recipe. ^_^
