    Buglim,

You should post a bit about what you'd like/have done before/looking to compete/SD, There are loads of styles and club that'd be more than happy to have you join, but it's not about that.

You're not too old. i would suggest you try a few different places, you can usually do a lesson or two for free, and see which you prefer.

depends what you want, at SBG you will get all you need, one of the best in the biz in ireland.

however, if you want more traditional MA there is Kenpo Karate in rathgar, kung fu in upper rathmines, kickboxing down in portobello in sygne street CBS. and probably loads of other stuff he do not know about!

I am 34 and I started muay thai last year.

Aye, it depends what you are after.

If it's just fitness any TMA will do ya'. If you want the BJJ/grappling/MMA go to SBG as Roper said. If it's self-protection your after, make sure (wherever you go) it's good practical realistic stuff. If you want any specific advise PM any of the boys, including myself.

    Later,

    B.

PS - Kenpo is great for fitness, flexibility and general well being. Plus it's a system that will keep you going for years.

You could also try Niall Keanes San Shou class in Rathmines,
    http://www.freewebs.com/sanshou/classes.htm
He has a number of beginners at the moment, and 30 is an ok age to start.

I'm sure I'll get lambasted for this but its like kickboxing- except far, far better. From what I've seen it and Muay Thai share a lot.

San Shou is chinese full contact fighting which is integral to most forms of Kung Fu, but not that widely tought or practiced over here. It features strikes, kicks, locks, trips and throws. Traditionally, in competitions, it is fought on a raised platforms, with points being scored for knocking your opponent onto the ground or off the platform. The style Niall teaches is based on Practical Tai Chi Chuan, which tends to be close quarters with mixed grappling, striking and plenty of take downs.

If you've already boxed, a style such as San Shou or Muay Thai might well suit you better than a more traditional martial art, as the training attitude and focus would be closer to boxing.
