    Hi,
Don't have a clue about art but have to ask, is it allowed to ask someone to reproduce a painting on canvas?

Never really appreciated art but there is one painting that I really thought "wow that's really good"

Use to really like Edvard Munch's "The Scream" also and took a look around ebay where there's a lot of copies but most are quite dodgy in terms of quality.

    Thanks.

id say it would be pretty impossible to make one exactly the same. i don't think paintings are copyright but what would be wrong would be if you tried to sell it as a original work by that artist.

apart from that artists have been copying other artists paintings for centuries for inspiration and for learning...take for example Paulo Ucellos Battle of San Ramano, that was copied dozens of times/ and parts of it were sketched by lots of art students in Italy.

So it would be legal to get someone to do an exact copy (well to the artist ability) of a painting if one cannot afford to buy an original as long as the painting is not signed off as the original painter?

    Hope that makes sense :o
