    ...what do you do?

there is the option of cracking but i don't want to do that, for fear of removing the ability to patch/get future map packs etc.

i have special forces so i can still play by loading that disc and just selecting a normal map, but that doubles the time it takes to get into a game!

is there any way of downloading some sort of boot disk or something?

I don't get this bit. You can start vanilla BF2 with the SF disc as normal. There's no need to start as SF then switch to vanilla.

I just use the normal shortcut on the desktop with SF in the drive, never done anything special or different.

You could get a mini-image for it.
Just let it think thers a disk in the drive, I think its legal as long as you bought the original game.

It may not be legal here but if you head over the the BF2 EA UK forum you can find out how to use a minimage and where to get one. Or just use Google.

A mini-image is useless to someoe that doesn't already have the game installed.

Some mini-images don't work lately :( Had to go back to using the DVD, as the game crashed to desktop lately when I loaded it :( T'was after the patch.

Errr, Sean, asking how to get BF2 working when you already have the game installed but the disk ins't working is much different than asking how to copy a disk to give to a friend you know?

Due to the serious lack of smilies in your post your request could be taken to be serious and you'd have to say goodbuy from Boards for a while.

Thankfully we all know you were only joking as I'm sure they have amazon.com in Spain :-)

I recently ran into this problem at the weekend, wanted to play some Bf but I left my disc in Kildare after a gaming weekend.

Anyway solved the issue by using one the mini images, it basically lets the game think the disc is in the drive. I was going to just use it just till I get my disc back this week, but I think I might keep it set up now, its very handy rather than having the DvD drive taken up with one disc the whole time.

If it contained a link to circumvent copy protection then prolly was deleted.

    Seantheman banned.
