mixing ram

    hi i looking for advice i have a dimension 4600 4 ram slots at the mo i have two x 256mb sticks im looking to buy 2 x 512 mb sticks to fill the spare slots will they work together or do i nedd 4 x 256 or 4 x 512 stcks any help would be appreciated

    Yes your can mix aslong as they are the same type eg 2* pc3200 modules the amount of memory doesnt matter

    so if i have two 512 sticks and two 256 sticks itll be ok

    yea they'll work but only as fast as the slowest matched pair.:D
