Just buy the ring, don't worry about sizes, if it fits her great, if not you can bring it back.

You sure a ring is appropriate? She may misunderstand.

Not sure how you would do it discreetly. does she wear alot of jewellery? if she left her rings somewhere while she went for a shower, or washed dishes for her mam - outline the width on paper or something. borrowing a ring from her jewellery box for a day or so - might not be very accurate. she could have put the ring away for weight loss / gain reasons.

Don't go mad price wise, I don't mean to sound patronising - but you are both still quite young :)

When better time to go MAD pricewise? Being broke when you're 16 is a hell of a lot easier than being broke when you're 26! It's one of the things you can look back on fondly either way...

As a happy couple when older, remember I spent all that money back then on that ring?

If she's ever your ex... talking with your mates; "and then, like the gob****e I am, I blew a months wages on a ring for the bloody woman!"

My fiance tried my rings to see if any fit on any of his fingers, it turns out for me that his little finger was the same size as my ring finger (have lost weight since though)...it might be a way of getting her ring size? You could also accidentally on purpose borrow a ring for a day?
