Linksys WRT54G. Lots of custom and hacked firmware out for it.

Make sure the one you get is pre version 5, thats if its hacked firmware you're after.

I take it that wrt54g firmware wont work on the wrt54g eu version that komplett are selling?

Is there as much firmware support for the eu version?

Out of interest, is there actually hardware differences between US an EU routers? My current SMC is an EU version.

If its pre v5 you're ok, after 5 the os changed plus (and more importently) the available flash memory was decreased.

Don't mean to Hijack the thread but what kind of advanced features would the custom made firmware add, and what kind of range would the wireless have compared with my eircom netopia router (having trouble picking up a good signal in some rooms in my house)

I have a netgear router on my desk linked by cat5 to one of these linksys routers running a hacked firmware. It allows you to up the wireless power etc. I have the linksys in the attic. I have full wireless coverage in the house.

One nice example is the intergration of xlink-kai into the router. Which removes thye need to have a PC running at the same time.
