If you guys are from Midleton, or the surrounding area, can you hand on heart say you didn't hear the rumours about there being a sexual element to this killing before the trial?
i can put my hand on my heart and say that..i honestly didnt hear a thing about it..

People seem more concerned about libel laws, the sentence and similar bullsh*t instead of actually finding out what REALLY HAPPENED.

    Here's a tinfoil hat.

    No, I didn't.

Also, why was O'Donoghue's claim that semen was the result of being from a towel accepted?

Assuming this is true, why shouldn't it be? Do you know otherwise (and have evidence to support this)?

That doesn't matter and rumours are not facts.

Their child has been killed, yet you call them vindictive. Of course they're vindictive, wouldn't you be? But if she lied in court (she didn't by the way) she can be done for perjury.

Are victim impact statements made under oath?

jesus do some of you people have a clue how corrupt and ridiculous the legal system is?

for anyone saying they don't know why the mother only came out with it now, she would have been prevented by LAW to bring it up during the trial if it was evidence that was deemed inadmissable.

and yes, it is entirely possible that there was semen found on the body that turned out to be wayne's, but due to some human error or something equally ridiculous [such as someone in the lab misplacing some documents relating to the sample or something stupid], it cannot be used in the trial. if such a thing happened, the judge or the dpp or whoever is not going to go 'ah yeh sure, but it's yer man;s semen so we have to include it as evidence!'. if there was a problem with the evidence like the example i gave, then it cannot be used, simple as. regardless of whether it is damning or not.

in short: i don't know what to believe, but it's even less black and white than before.

nesf- I realise you are the moderator but why bother posting if you're not actually contributing? I'm tired of seeing these one line posts that have no substance.

Why shouldn't it be? Are we to take the word of people responsible for the deaths of others? Surely all relevant information should be put before a jury? I think it's clear that did not happen in this instance.

Ok, coming from the area myself I would like to point out that there is a lot of sympathy for Wayne O'Donoghue.

Second it is my belief (and only my belief) that Robert Holohan's parents are simply vendictive.
I mean his father was shown in court to be beating him, now his turning around and playing God as if he cared about the child!
If they go on the Late Late Show and SELL their story to the papers then this will surely show a more sinister side to them will it not?

Based on these comments (and your previous posts on this thread), your motives are becoming obvious.

And is it now as "entirely possible" that she made the whole thing up?

My motives? I simply want to give my opinion. Jesus, can you not debate the issue rather than making personal insults?

I would have to agree based on comments like:

What the hell is that about? Are you offering a serious contribution or what?

Please lock this thread. Its becoming hard to read with two diametrically opposed views and plenty of unproved factoids.

It's not doing anyone a favour and won't change any of the unfortunate things that have happened.

Straight off on Joe Duffy today there was a woman saying "if it was my child that was killed I'd..." . Well I think we should all think about how we'd be feeling if it was our son child who was sentenced today. IMHO no amount of prison is going to make any difference - a child died at his hands and he has to live with that (and all the hints, allegations and rumours that surfcaed before and after) for the rest of his life - not all prison walls are of bricks and mortar.

To be honest I disagree with you. If you ever wish to comment on my posting again, please feel free to pm me about it. Don't post on here about it.

    Thanks.
