My thoughts exactly! Run wild Maynooth for you are now free. Mikado was the biggest load of bollocks anyway. I hope it's gone FOREVER!

I must agree. Mikado was a plague, a virus that was eating at the heart of maynooth. Now you can all step outside your doors, rub your weary eyes and bask in the world outside of Mikado!

So, what are we gonna do? Someone feel like setting up a new board?

I wanna slap that guy who posted the scat. I hear it wasnt his first time. Is he mentally challenged? Maybe its not the worst thing he may have to leave college.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 Marco Polo

Seems someone who was brought before the college by the CC for posting porn, flung some **** around. I'd say it'll sort itself out. But I don't see how they can justify threatening anyone else who sets up a board.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 346 ✭✭trekkypj

Well the games boards have been restricted to members only from what I've heard. Stops people using them as a place to bitch about Mikado.

For all of ye dancing on the graves of Mikado, think about the clubs and socs who used Mikado to organise their events, to let people know what was happening, who don;t have websites and now no way to let people know what's happening on campus?

I agree there was a lot of ****e on the boards for various reasons. That's no reason to laugh at the misfortunes of the members who used Mikado for useful purposes and now haven't that option anymore.

    FOREVER

Interesting wording they used. Seems the college wants more direct control over disciplining members. Could be that Mikado will be back as a more rules heavy place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,600 ✭✭✭joe316

pretty sure it wont be back

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 4,641 Mod ✭✭✭✭dory

    Why so sure joe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 Marco Polo

Why not? It's be shut down a few times before and it always came back. They'll cut a deal with the college, promise to hand people over quicker and bang, they're back. The college is probably just pissed that they haven't been handing over more morons.

Wow, it's like that Akari ****e all over again. Some tosser with a grudge tries to kill a society.

It's funny, made me laugh anyway but then most Mikado users had no sense of humor....

Well it screws some of my socs over anyway. Omega, Media Soc and others used Mikado as a means of communicating events and soc news with its members and now they're left in the lurch. Whatever about the other sections of the board that part was valuable and now it's gone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,454 ✭✭✭mloc123

I do agree with you on the socs issue but.... all other socs should not have relied on Mikado.

    Why not?

They provided a service and many socs took advantage of it. You seriously expect them to foresee this **** happening?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,454 ✭✭✭mloc123

its up to clubs and socs to provide there own forums, mailing system etc... MUCK is a good example of it.

Most of them are hosted on MiNDS though, if MiNDS for example shut down a LOT of socs would lose their webspace. Not that it's likely to happen, it's an example.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 Marco Polo

Yeah, but a lot of socs had their own stuff and Mikado. It's a useful service and not every soc has the technical expertise or the time to go setting up their own. The college can't get rid of it just because some people keep posting illegal stuff. It's punishing the majority for the actions of a minority. If NUIM are worried about any of this reflecting poorly on the college, the committee should just slap down harder on the offenders. None of this banning crap where they're back within the week, they should report the poster to the Computer Centre everytime. If that was hanging over them, we'd have less trouble and the boards would be better.

Says the man with the ... what was it 6 accounts? Or was it 7? You must really have hated it huh, coming back time and time again. How many posts did you make on it, with all those?

Hypocritical to be calling them geeks with no lives, no?
