maybe the OP's referring to the fact that a significant proportion of victims of unlawful deaths in Ireland in 2005 were Eastern european

Jesus. I'm so sick of hearing the 'racist' mantra when people express legitimate concerns about foreigners and crime. We're not Americans - we're Irish. Let's not be overly PC and actually look at things objectively and if statistics prove (which they may or may not) that there's a disproportionate amount of crime amongst foreign immigrants then so be it. Honestly, all this "you're a rascist" crap is completely pathetic.

From what I can gather, yes: there seem to be a notable amount of assualts carried out by Eastern Europeans (usually on each other) in recent years. A lot of the knifing and malicious assaults you hear are by Polish, Lithuanian people etc. Am I a racist because I hear it on the radio? Are the radio stations racist because they report it? Come on now folks.

PS: Poles and Lithuanians are generally the same race as us.

You haven't worded it very well, but I take it to mean that there is an increases in racist crimes being commited against Eastern Europeans?

Maybe you hear about Eastern Europeans alot more because of the way the media manipulate the facts. If she's gonna base her story on some article from a piece of **** like the 'Sunday World', then it's hardly going to be a fair, properly analysed story.

I'm sure they committed the crimes reported but are they reporting as much on the crimes comitted by Irish people. Personally, i've never had any problems with Eastern Europeans.

What about local papers that give details on the weekly court appearances?

Well personally I don't read rags. Okay, I read the Times but it's about as unraggy as Irish papers get. I listen to Newstalk and FM104 in the car and it's the same deal. Considering their numbers, there does seem to be a disproportionate amount of violent crimes among Eastern Europeans.

Maybe all the media have it in for them, maybe Hagar's right - they are actually committing these crimes.

Before any dimwit goes and accuses me of being a racist (lol) I'd just like to point out that I have a few Polish friends and my best mate is engaged to a Polish girl. Not that that doesn't make me racist - for those who understand what racism actually is, I also have plenty of black mates (mainly in the UK) and even some Arabic friends. Most of the Poles are worried about the significant minority. Most of my black friends won't go anywhere near predominantly black nightclubs in London for fear of being jumped. Most of my Arabic friends bitch and moan about the rise in Islamic fundamentalism coming from their countries and countries of origin, for those that aren't living there anymore. Yet if I as an Irishman express these worries, I'm a racist. I love it.

    Dun dun DUN!!!

    Oh the implications...

Frankly though, I've known a lot of Polish people, even had a Polish girlfriend for a while, and I think they're great most of the time. Can't say I've ever had trouble with any of them, and I was actually very suprised to hear that a lot of the bank card skimming was done by Eastern Europeans, just because of my experiences with them. But for gods sake, can we have just one thread where the PC Brigade doesn't jump down everyone's throat? It's really, really tiresome. It really is.

I suggest that you get some lessons in English structure, grammar and punctuation before writing your "piece".

Agreed. They're about as close to Irish people as people from outside Ireland get.

Yeah, the majority from my local paper reported on would be Irish, i seem to note, with a few exceptions.

I'm sure they committed the crimes reported

So it's not racist then to say that they committed them? What's your point then?

Does that not sound racist to you? Maybe she had a point but to be honest with you, the post was so poor that i didn't really understand her.

Exactly. I've noticed recently in the local paper a high proportion of drink driving cases with names of defendents that sound eastern European

I think the point, although poorly made, was that already high crime levels have been worsened by crimes committed by foreign nationals.

In fairness, nobody (including me) has facts to back any of these arguments up.

n/p - I might get shot down for this, but then again its my view.
Some Eastern Europeans are pre-historic in their ways.

Someone I know has neighbours from East Eur, and the husband mangled the wife over Christmas. He dragged her to the street and beat lumps out of her, the kids are even sporting lumps and bumps. In their view, women are there to be servants to the men, and to have their children. there is still no respect for the female race.
(Yes, I know they all aren't like that)

Allowing such huge volumes of people with completely different cultures into the country and expect it all to go down a treat, is ridiculous.

Needless to say the woman who witnessed it was on to the police, and as far as I know the social services.
Some of them can be barbaric

Unfortunately many an Irish wife and children were beaten by her/their Irish husband/father this Christmas.

My area is rife with these cases!
The amount of Eastern Europeans being pulled over and taken out of cars with massive amounts of drink in them is a disgrace.
No tax, no insurance etc to boot.

Indeed they can I also know of a guy in the locality who kicked the seven shades of ****e out of his wife and he was Irish. As with all communities you will always get people out to cause trouble or make their money through crime.

Also there are more "gangs" for want of a better word setting up shop here as it is very easy for them to hide away under different guises as here to work, it provides an easy enviroment for them to commit and get away with these crimes to an extent.
