good beginners art set

anyone know where I could get a good beginners art set in dublin or what it should contain and can you buy vouchers for art courses , as a present for someone ?

Drop into Reads, or the shop on Harcourt Street, and I'm sure you'll find a good set. The staff in Harcourt Street are probably a better bet for help in choosing, it can be a little more pricey though.

kennedys(harcourt street) have good kits but are pricey. they also do vouchers.

Depends on what you want to get...Paints are a pretty good set off point, there's some decent kits out there (go into the shop, and look for a big yellow box - trust me :P ) Ye gotta choose between oils, acyrilic or watercolour though...personally I'd go with acyrilic! You usually get 6 colours, 2 paintbrushs, decent paper, a palette of some sort and some reading material. Be anything from 40 - 50 quid. Reeve's products would be the cheapest I'd say, but you lack in quality!

I think a kit like that might be better than a voucher, mainly because the person mightn't know what to choose with a voucher.

i was aiming to buy a kit and then give a voucher for lessons or prepay for a set of lessons.

Thanks for the help with finding a good kit (paints is what i was thinking about alright) - ill keep an eye out for any yellow boxes

€50 quid is about the price i was looking to pay - so I'll have a goo in kennedys - im also assuming that any kits in argos would be rubbish ?

i think Easons has nice kits for presents but they may be a little pricey. a really good present is to get paintbrushes as they're quite expensive and good quality ones are dear but worth it.
