cheap art materials

I want to get back into painting.
Last time I painted was in my school days (was about 16), and I dropped art for another subject. Which resulted in the art teacher following me around for weeks asking me to reconsider and not waste my talent.
But I did and in someways regret it. So time to get back into it (15 years later). :o

But I know what I'm like - if the work doesn't look exactly the way I want it - I eventually loose interest and give up.

So I don't want to fork out a small fortune on materials just to quit a month later.

Can anyone suggest where I can get materials at good prices - in Dublin or on the net.

I would be looking to buy:
a bunch of acrylic or oil tubes of paint
    brushes and palette knives
    gesso
    thinning / thickening mediums
    varnish

if you look up the links sectin of this forum you should see Evans (and directions), they have lots of cheap paper for doodling on and stuff. your best to get a good art teacher too who'll motivate you and give you plenty of praise to help get you back into so it might be worthwhile to try and find a suituable art class you can enroll in.

Yes Evans has the best prices but you get what you pay for. If you use poor quality paint your colours will look terrible.

Dont go cheap on art supplies, then again that doesn't mean go mad. Try to keep to the brand names, they are far batter quality.
