    hi lads

    im trying to get labview to monitor a digital multi meter via the dmm's serial port. has anyone any tips on this?

    What "language" does the DMM speak? Does is use a MODBUS protocol or something else? The manual will have all this info. Once you know how to code messages to the DMM and read the replies, you can use I/O interface. (I don't use Labview myself, but another similar package called VEE, but there must be similar features).

    The best way to monitor any equipment is probably over a GPIB interface, but that doesn't come on all instruments.
