LCVP gets you extra points for the Leaving Cert, it's an extra course that you do out of school time.

It's not countable as one of the 6 subjects though, is it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

One would presume, otherwise why do it?

Isn't it just that the maximum you can get is 60 points from it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 400 ✭✭TalkISCheap

I thought it was nearer to 70 for a distinction... Although I'm liable to be wrong. No, what I heard a while back was that you counted it as an extra subject, or suchlike...

Can you only do it with certain subject combinations? Or is that just my school?

Well, your school has to run the program. I know my school doesn't. We do Leaving Cert Applied instead.

    I was only quoting.
Anyway... Help: Ask you parents (if they work in an office) or ask them to ask their friends to try and get you a job in an office.

I was in TY last year and had the best two work experiences EVER! maybe it was because i got two holidays thrown in for the bargain but i did one week in galway working on the irish soap Ros Na Run and they were filming the Christmas special and i got to be an extra and stuff so that was cool then i did a week in dublin in rte working with mainly Off The Rails but flitting around all over the place meeting all the famous people and visiting all the sets (im from donegal) - Basically do something FUN more than likely its not going to actually help you make life changing career decisions anyway!:)

I have two weeks in febraury/march which I am spending working in a sloicitors office for one week (I'll also get to go to court probably which will be cool) and the other week I'm spending with Tom Kitt TD, which I'm looking forward to 'cause I'm interested in politics.

You shouldn't go near FF scum!!

Im doing one week in The Village magazine and another in Tower Records (the week before xmas, so it will be a laugh cause it will be so busy) :)

I was supposed to have the two weeks before christmas for work experience, but I'm off the second week because I'm doing my work experience next week instead. And by work experience I mean college experience. Go trinity.

Well, I'm on work exp. now, it's just oodles of fun! And by oodles I mean they made me tag every item in the store. WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY DOING BEFORE I CAME?!

    Ahem, ignore my exhausted rage.

I had to sort papers all day.
I must have at least 50 paper cuts.
    Seriously.

I feel your pain. Security tags are sharp.

On a positive note, I just got back from a debate and it went really well! Worship me, you fools. :)

Speaking of debates, anybody going to that Accounting Ireland Table Quiz tomorrow night?

I... didn't think it warranted a new thread, since I doubt anyone's heard of it. But I try nonetheless.

Accounting Ireland? Finally, something nerdier than the science olympics!

    where's it on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

It's in the Red Cow Hotel. I dont' know if it's officially called Accounting Ireland, but it's organised by some accounting... group/union thing. It's mostly general knowledge but there will be some business, unfortunately.

I did a week in an unknown architect's office (do not go to an office).

Another week coming up sometime in the future, no idea what I'm gonna do for it yet.

Jakkass: Lucan community school? I heard them getting called out.

It was for 4th, 5th and 6th years, though most of the people there were 6th years. Phh. We came 18th and we had no 6th years on any of our teams.

Yay! I got my second week work experience. I'll be doing some administrative work in a PR company. I think it will be great.

I hate Lucan Community College. Jakkass doesn't go there though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭PurpleFistMixer

What'd they do to make you hate them?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 779 ✭✭✭Flashling

Be in Lucan. Of course. Back on the topic of work experience, we're having a fashion shoot tomorrow! (which I might get to be in, yay clothes!)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,878 ✭✭✭Rozabeez

AHAH. I got a REAL job! Go me!
