    Lo all

I just installed Redhat 7.1 on my home pc. thing is win2k was on it first, but lilo (redhats boot loader) isn't seeing win2k. Anyone know of one that will see win2k and RedHat?

    Thanks

    This is what is wrong.

when I installed linux, it said that I had two drives (which I do). It seen them as hde1 and hdf1. now after talking with snaga, it should have been hda1 rather than hde1. I think this is the prob. I will try to reinstall later on today. But I really don't want to lose my win2k drive to a format, as it has all my download files, CV's and MP3's on it. I'm going to try and repair the win2k boot sector. and use the boot floppy I made for linux. See if that will work??

it shouldnt matter a dam if the device is hda or hde, tho that would indicate that you have two ide ports somwwhere else on your machine which is a bit strange

the fact that your disk is hde should not really matter, it should still be simply a case of adding the lines to lilo.ocnfi and rebooting

You could use System Commander, reinstall Linux LILO in the /root I think that is how I got it sorted.

In the end i found out what i had done wrong. I was so tired on Sunday, from planet that I said yes for linux to be installed on the MBR, so it fubbed up windows loading. So a few min ago I rewrote the MBR and all is well. If I want to get into linux I use a floppy (which is something I want to keep doing) and If the floppy is not in the drive, win2k will auto load with out asking which os to use (lets face it I dont want my ma or sis going into linux)

    Thanks for the help lads
