You gotta hunt down Dreamweaver V Front Page. And MySQL V PostgreSQL. And surely there's a Perl V PHP flamewar somewhere? And shouldn't you have locked this, to stop annoying people like me posting here? And created another thread for discussion, which could be linked from here? And shouldn't mommies and daddies never fight, and puppies always look cute? And won't you delete this?

Yeah probably. But if anybody else has got links that they think belong here, feel free to post them here. But like dahamsta says this thread will likely be throroughly edited and posts deleted in order to shape it into a useful thing.

www.sitepoint.com is the best site you will find in my opinion. www.webmasterbase.com is one of the subsections for it, the forums at sitepoint are very good.

Pam ... is there any chance we, well you really ... that you could edit you post to add various links so it is up the top when you click in. You know ... like a shared favourites thread kinda thing !?!

I liked being able to learn directly by messing around online with code, in, for example, the CSS code/HTML view editor:
