    Not a problem just curious.I was playing with different settings for my wireless connection(Windows XP home),when finished I noticed that the baloon now says 'you are connected to wireless network 7' It used to be 3.
    Where are all these different settings stored and is it possible to reset/delete them.
    The connection is working fine just curious

    Click on the wireless icon, below right hand corner - select advanced and you can change and rename and delete settings.

    Ggo to device manager ( Shortcut: start -> run -> devmgmt.msc )
    Click View, choose Show Hidden Devices,
    You'll see the other (no-existant) wireless adapters, under Network Adapters
    You can delete this if desired..

    You can rename the wireless connection in Network Connections (Shortcut: Start -> Run -> ncpa.cpl )

    I assume you are on wireless connection #7 because you have tried other devices/attempts* and it kept incrementing the number.

    *Typical reason..some devices will add virtual devices for other reasons..
