FTP Problem Wi th Smart

I finally got smart in yesterday and everything works fine except FTPìng upwards. I tried a couple of different FTP programmes and they start off really slow and end up failing. Ws_ftp gives me a 503 Error. Is there anything i need to do with MTU maybe? Im stumped! :(
