Nurburgring Record For Road Legal Car (with video footage)

An EDO Tuned Porsche 996 GT2 RS broke the lap record of the Nordschleife (without the GP circuit). The previous record was held by Horst von Saurma in a Porsche Carrera GT with a lap time of 7.32.44. This was broken by Patrick Simon in his 612bhp 996 with a time of 7.15.63 lap

The all time 'Ring lap record is 6:11 by Stefan Bellof in a Porsche 956 during a practice session during the 1000kms race.

The acceleration is amazing to look at,a bit ropey passing the bikes.

It would be interesting to see what time he could do with no other cars on the track, on the run up to the Karussel there were two cars across the track i thought he was fecked, but he breezed past them

Nice lap. theres another 25+ seconds on that lap to do(the whole lenght of the old Start finish & under the Shell bridge at teh top of the downhill left hander to get to where he starts the vid from .

He had to take it easy past the bikes, gawd knows what they're goin to do.
Those ejjits on the back staight down to right hander before the carossel, :O two abrest across the road, Stupid Saab Carbriolet driver!

Anyone see the Hans Stuck's lap in a factory BMW M3 GTR? super quick!.
