    How do you determine a good ping.

    This is mine:

    Pinging www.boards.ie [82.195.136.36] with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 82.195.136.36: bytes=32 time=34ms TTL=56
    Reply from 82.195.136.36: bytes=32 time=62ms TTL=56
    Reply from 82.195.136.36: bytes=32 time=44ms TTL=56
    Reply from 82.195.136.36: bytes=32 time=64ms TTL=56

    Ping statistics for 82.195.136.36:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
    Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 34ms, Maximum = 64ms, Average = 51ms

    Is it any good.

    It is reasonable but not great. A gamer would prefer a lower ping, but most other people wouldn't notice a difference. It is better then dial-up. What service do you have?

    For a comparison, this is my ping on NTL 3m/300k:

    Pinging boards.ie [82.195.136.36] with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 82.195.136.36: bytes=32 time=27ms TTL=48
    Reply from 82.195.136.36: bytes=32 time=29ms TTL=48
    Reply from 82.195.136.36: bytes=32 time=25ms TTL=48
    Reply from 82.195.136.36: bytes=32 time=26ms TTL=48

    Ping statistics for 82.195.136.36:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
    Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 25ms, Maximum = 29ms, Average = 26ms
