    Try up2date gtk+.

The library may be there under a different name or in a non-standard location, depending on how you have installed other stuff.

Try looking for the library file using locate:

    updatedb
    locate libgtk-1.2.so

It might be in a different location or be called something else

If you find it, you could create a symbolic link to the file and put it into /usr/lib.
You could also get it from rpmsearch but there may be other dependencies.

Why don't you use something like yum or up2datet ? it can make things a lot easier.

    the file exists
    its located in /usr/ib64/libgtk-1.2.so.0

would it be ok to copy that file and place it in

    /usr/lib

or would that screw with the dependencies

No, that'll be fine. You'd be better of linking it though, save having out of whack versions.

Should be ok, but there may be other libraries in that directory that you might need to use.

As i said in my previous post, link it using ln -s instead of copying it.

so if i create a link by doin this

    ln -s /usr/lib64/libgtk-1.2.so.0 /usr/bin

    it should work?

or do i have to create the file in /usr/bin
    and do this

    ln -s /usr/lib64/libgtk-1.2.so.0 /usr/bin/libgtk-1.2.so.0
