Holy bejaysus! I really don't want that happening to the guitar that i have yet to be delivered to me. Ok to cut a long story short the luthier making the guitar has made a mess and the build time of 3months advertised on his site, for me anyway, has stretched to 6 months. Recently the guitar fell from a storage rack of his and he was forced to strip the paint and repair it. He sent me an e-mail following this damage apologising and said the guitar would be free but it would take another while. But at this rate seeing as almost everything has gone wrong i ask those of you in the know how i can get this guitar to me as safely and quickly as possible? Is there an expecially safe i can request he packs it? Should i definitely pay the full insurance on it seeing as by now it's free? Is Fedex extra cost? Is it possible to priority mail something as big as a guitar?

Well, if he insures it, he can ensure it for whatever he wants but you don't have to pay for the guitar. Get him to put it in a guitar box, wrap that six LOADS of bubble wrap and stick that in another box. What about DHL for delivery? Where's the guitar coming from?

You mean he's the one who should be insuring it at this stage cos i amn't paying for the guitar anymore? It's coming from America. DHL expensive quicker?

If he insures it and it gets broken, he'll be able to claim money on it. Otherwise he could end up out of pocket for the guitar and you could be without a guitar. DHL is pretty good afaik. Dunno about prices though. Check the various websites.

DHL are a bunch of ****ehawks too. I ordered some stuff from Thomann a few weeks ago. No sign of it. Yesterday there was a letter from DHL waiting for me when I got home, an Attempted Delivery Notice dated the 8th of July. Bear in mind yesterday was the 19th of July. An DHL's reason for non-delivery?

    "Driver cannot locate your house."

 Seriously, FFS. An international courier company cannot find a house in a large estate in Dublin that has been in the same place for over 30 years? Don't they have maps and radios in those vans?

So what do they do? They can't find the house so they send me a letter through An Post to the same address their driver couldn't find!!! I still can't figure out why it took the letter 9 days to be delivered

Is it just me or is the whole world going crazy?

Yeah I got that excuse before too, except it was from UPS and it was an office building that they have delivered to before. So I gave them a call gave them directions and was asured that it would be delivered the next morning. Next day I kept an eye on the tracking thing on their website waiting for my package to arrive only to see "Failed Attempted Delivery". I rang them straight away and was told that the driver aparently tried to call but there was no one there, IT'S A F***ING OFFICE!! Needless to say I wasnt to impressed, so I asked them if it would be possible to contact the driver and ask him to call back before the end of the day, but I just got a bunch of excuses and was told it would be delivered tomorrow. Eventually it arrived the next day, I thought that it would be quicker to get something delivered to work instead of my house because there wouldnt be any one there but no. It actually took longer to get from Dublin airport to Smithfield than it did to get from Music123 across the US to Germany and then to Dublin. I wouldnt have minded so much except the shipping was pretty damn expencive and the excuses were so pathetic.

Woops that kinda turned into a bit of a rant.. ah well
