CD-Rom Mount Problem

I am running a java program that runs the unix mount command every 5 seconds, it then tries a file listing to see if the cdrom was mounted. This works quite well. The only problem is this, when the mount command runs it closes the CD drawer if it is open. When you try open the drawer it pretty much closes it straight away…

Any way to prevent mount from closing the cd drawer if it is open ?
