what's the story with midgets?

I mean realisitically, what's the story? This isn't a joke and I'm not poking fun at anyone but I am curious.
You never see them on busses or in restaurants, never in McDonalds or Chinese places. You never see them playing football in the park or working in shops. You never see them driving cars or reading the news. What's going on?
Are there special shops that sell them clothes?
You never see midget firemen or doctors or pilots, why not? You never go for an interview in a company and find you're being interviewed by a midget. You only ever see them walking around corners on the street and they always seem a little bit angry.
Can anyone tell me where all the disgruntled midgets go?
