Anyone else find this practise annoying?

It kind of says: "ooh, look at my thread which I have created; look upon my writing in awe and tremble before its almighty brilliance, ah c'mon"

Treat them like old people, I say and let them die miserable and alone if that be their fate.

I dislike the cuckoo's nest and all who frequent it. I dislike people who disregard every comment that has gone before there's so they can make THEIR point. I dislike people who have nothing to say and all the time in the world to say it.

Bumping, I have no problem with. Most people tend to just go for the new posts rather than searching for topics. It's handy for someone who might be selling something like tickets to an event and time might be running out. A rather inoffensive boards tool i think.

Ah I see now, this whole thread was just a reason for you to do that. That's funny that is.

I like it when the person uses the little picture of Mario bumping his head off a block.

Depends. A couple of bumps is ok, say if you were selling something but when it starts going over the top it annoys the piss out of me.

No, that was an afterthought. I figured if I didn't do it, somebody else would. Thanks for your thoughts though - I shall treasure your €0.02. I genuinely dislike this bumping lark but I am not without a sense of irony.

Just don't let it go on for too long though boss....there is a seperate bump thread floating around and there really is only room for one of anything on this site....

I'd be the same as Petes. A few bumps is grand but if someone keeps bumping a fecking thread nobody's replying to it's awfully annoying.

It has been known for there to be 'Bump' threads on boards, designed purely to be bumped and absolutely nothing else. All that is required is that each post contains the word bump somewhere in it. They can last a long time. Days, weeks, months and even years, if people participate.

    bump (up one thread)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,006 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

That is the general idea. Friday is a good day for a bump.

Tis a pity that to counter-act the BUMP thread, that we don't have a DUMP option that would send the thread to the depths of nothingness for the remaining life of its sad existence

First off, go raibh maith agat for posting a bump in this thread. Of course someone could come along, go over to the dark side, and become an anti-bumpist and set up their own thread, to keep this one off the top.

    whats a bump?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,730 ✭✭✭✭simu

I never need to bump because my threads have very high success rate of answership to original query. But if I did, I would just place another post that seemed to be adding something worthwhile to the overall thread. Coz I is subtle and skilllld, like.
