aspect ratio on RTE 1&2

can anyone else see the odd aspect ratio on RTE 1 & 2 uhf & vhf. news programmes are 4:3 but films and other shows are some where between 4:3 and 16:9 so in the last few days i'm missing 10% of the screen. regards bhg
