Hi all. I'm trying to figure out is the above any form of language? I was told it could be a bastardized version of Glagolitic or Welsh. Any comments would be nice. The date "1839" was also written on the stone (not in the picture, tho).

I don't believe that is a language. The symbols are too repeaditive, it looks more like someones attempt at a primitive code script.

I agree that it looks like a code.

The characters look similar to Greek. Although I can't read it.

Although it might be a wild goose chase, greek symbols were used as a code to hide notes (by alchemists?). It would normally be either a rotating Caesar cipher or straight character-word subsitution.

Most likely though graffitti from a greek student exchange program. :p

Its been there since before the Mental Hostipal was closed (1970's), seemingly. Also, its a passage from a grave stone.

Hey, newgrange is full of graffitti from tourists in the 19th century. could happen. :)

Could just be the ramblings of one of the crazy people at the place.

A lot of these look like stylized versions of some astronomical / zodiacal symbols.
