ok my appolagies, i think i now understand what you want

sorry to hear subliminal, I have tickets but they are a birthday gift for my mother, would give them to you tomorrow if I could.
To me colin fry is a form of entertainment, I'm not expecting to hear any messages from him but if you genuinely are seeking a reputable medium there are lots of folks here who can recommend one from personal experience.

    peace to yours

tuxy, describing colin fry as a cold reader would depend on your beliefs. Some here might be offended by your automatic assumption that hes a fraud.

Sub, I wont comment on whether I think hes good or bad, but paying a lot of money and basing all your hope on one person who may not even approach you with a message, is probably not a good idea. Healing for a loss like this will happen within you and your family. You may want certain questions answered, if thats the case, I would advise waiting. You will find the right person to tell you. A show such as this might only dissillusion you if you are not given a message.

There used to be a great website I must see if its still around. My mum in law died 2 years ago and I went on the website one night and got given a reading, it cost me nothing and was so amazing, it was definately my mum in law. I'll let you know if the website is still there.
Failing that, what about Spiritualist churches? I don't know if there are any in Dublin.
I'm going to see Colin Fry in Castlebar but not expecting to get a reading from him, I'm just interested to see what it will be like.

@MagnumLady Please, if you can get the web addy id appriciate it.

@katiek, weve talked before about this, member? On the paranormal thread, i deleted the post after your excellent advice. I take what you say seriosly, but tbh, Person a tels me... MR X is the best Person b tells me MR Y is the best. To find someone to talk to, and maybe get a reading from, is all i want. My family has had its rough times, but this death isisnt going to be forgotten about, ie: We need some form of closure. Some in my family want a Psycic, some want a medium, ME? i want anything, somthing to answer my unanswered questions...Am i making sense?

If someone knows a PROVEN psycic, please pass the name on to me.

Or if a psycic is reading this, PLEASE PLEASE get in touch.

Anyway, if anyone does have tickets pm me pls

I don't understand the problem. Surely you could just arrange to meet the afformentioned MrX or MrY. Why does it matter if people give contradictory advice on which one is the best?

Plus, I've seen Colin Fry, not live, but I don't buy it. He's a charlatan. I can almost feel the sleeze coming from him.

Just find a local physic, the fact that Colin Fry has a TV show means he's a good performer, it says nothing about how good/bad a psychic/medium he may be.

Sorry sub, I often read threads and reply without remembering the names etc. (Like my avatar, I am blonde ;) ) Hey, if it feels right for you, do it, just remember if you think hes lousy, dont tar em all with the one brush.
I wish I had a recommendation for you but I dont. Im just working on a vibe here, and its that colin fry may not be for you. But what do I know :p Good luck

I've seen Tony Robbins live (I know he's more a self-motivation type thing than a medium). I can't say what I thought of him here because it would be seriously libelous. Suffice to say it's made me very skeptical of any of these seminar/show type things. By all means go along but don't attach any hopes or expectations to it. I thing the best thing for you to do is to try a few different mediums/psychic etc and find what one is right for you. People recommend X and Y because they've had good experiences with those people but it's impossible for anybody else to tell you if Z can definitely provide exactly what you're looking for (if someboy did, I'd guess they don't understand the question very well). It's kind of like the way you won't know if a particular supermarket will have everything you need to make your dinner untill you go in and have a look around.

@katieK....lmao... its cool, im just looking to go cos my family want to, and my family wont go unless i come too....

@stevenmu I know what youre saying, but it looks like i cant get tickets anyway, theres a hundred people on the cancellation waiting list...

Still if anyone has a few tickets ill take em' all.

If Fry and Robins are giving the answers they give because they are talking to the dead then then they are doing it the hard way. Get a book on cold reading. Ian rowland's Full facts book on cold reading is a good book. He was in dublin recently and there is a 20 per cent discount on his site if you use DUBLIN as a discount code.

Anyway Rowland does NOT claim psychic abilities. He tells you it is all entertainment. Would you not think that if you did not have psychic abilities that letting people believe you were talking to the dead or actually telling them you are is not a nice thing to do? Would you also think that one should not just believe anyone who claims they talk to the dead and pay them money for that? Should one not look for incontravertible evidence that someone can talk to the dead first?

How was the show? I'm off on Thursday to see it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,999 ✭✭✭solas

I knew someone else here was going to see him so I thought I wouldn't spoil it by giving details. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,665 ✭✭✭magnumlady

You are a spoilsport! Go on, I'd love to know what it was like, I'm very sceptical myself, did you get a message?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,999 ✭✭✭solas

lol...no nothing personal anyway. The atmosphere was great and some of the readings were pretty good.
I was never a big fan of colin fry or tony stockwell and I'm familiar with being around mediums so the novelity has worn a tad but glad I went.

Sounds good, can't wait until tomorrow. What time did the show end?

I hope you enjoy it, if I remember it started at 8 and went on until about 11ish.

The thing that people may find disappointing is the fact that it is showbiz, you recognise when the two boys walk on stage that they are showmen and are performing. Some of the readings weren't very "hot" (ask about the dublin lass who's junkie ex was there and the story about the stolen trainers) and the hottest reading I saw, I was sceptical about and wondered if it was a plant. (The American)
The rest were just very general.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,665 ✭✭✭magnumlady

I was wondering about plants too, I'll see what happens tonight. I was watching the show on Living (it was filmed in London) and Colin Fry started talking to a woman in the audience and asked if her father was on the other side. I was thinking surely he should have known that already??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,999 ✭✭✭solas

there were a few times I was doubled over laughing at some of the things that were said, it was like watching comedy and it was the audience who were providing the entertainment. A lot of Irish wit, sort of put the two boys to shame.

    :)

Well I went last night and really enjoyed it! Although I didn't think Colin Fry was good, but Tony was great. Some of the messages had people in tears. They must make a fortune though, the place was packed and then they had all their stuff on sale. I would have liked them to give people shorter messages and then they would have fitted more in.

I was at that show last Saturday. I would have been sceptical before going but I found a couple of the readings very convincing.. I can usually see when someone is fishing for info, but Colin Fry is the oppisate he says something in great detail & will not change any piece of that info for anything .. There was an interesting one where he told a person her mother said the cause of the smell in her kitchen was a dead mouse under the kickboard. Imagine going home & there being a mouse there??????

I thought that was a bit tacky tbh, my mother bought a cd that had three songs on (bout half an hours worth of music) and was charged 19 euro for it. The whole merchandising thing makes them seem like con men. Tastless really.
and yea..Colin fry did about three times the amount of readings as Tony Stockwell, who tends to take an average of ten-fifteen minutes per reading.

I agree!, books & Cd arn't too bad but the keyrings & pens were a bit much.!! I would love to see the recordings of the 3 nights to see if there is any repetitions amoung the readings. I don't believe the actors theory, most people seem locals..& it would only take 1 actor trying to make a name for themselves to blow the whole thing wide open..

I seriously agree, if those dubliners were actors they all deserve oscars, somethings just can't be faked.! Too local to be set ups.
The only one I did question was the American (remember?) the sister in law had been shot and the mother went and took her own life because of it, It was such an intense reading and pretty spot on that it was theonly one I questioned the authenticity of..and probably also because the guy didn't appear to be local.
