Terrain.mpq took ages for me as well, but worked eventually. I did see some reports with people having a problem with it. Go watch some tv and come back, it's worth the wait.

I've played about 2 hrs now (undead warrior), nice and straight forward, I like the way you can buy different abilities. Very easy to get into, much more simple (at this stage, which I like) compared to EQ2. As a very casual gamer this works just right. Still early days though.

ok its about 95% done but its been stuck on patch.mpq for at least 30 mins now ! grrr

Ok iv put in maybe 8 hours now,

Played a dwarf warrior and a Human Warlock and im havin a blast

Server just went down for a MUCH needed restart, the Lag is horrible at moment almost unplayable.....

Its amazing how easy u can lvl and move around off the quests alone they move u on from one area to another as u lvl so your oponents are always a challenge 2 u...

Like i said only a day into it sofar but i like it ALOT sofar after restart ill try an undead guy for awhile

Really nice engine...no slowdown or lag. Enjoying it so far ! Im deffo gonna buy it when its released.

Im currently enjoying the mroe or less totally lag free server 41. Theres the odd lag spike, but its only a 1 off, and only 10 seconds at max, its central time so a bit farther from us, but there such a diffrence in traffic it cuts the lag no end. Im enjoying myself as a Gnome warlock, currently lvl 11, I have all but gave up on my lvl 11 tauren warrior simply due to the server being nigh on unplayable. (server 19 i think)

The lag is horrible. But it's not lag in a traditional sense, apparently their Database servers for the items in the game are overloaded which is causing action specific lag. i.e. Looting, Skinning, Crafting, Auction Houses, Mail (took me 15 minutes to get my mail earlier) amd even resurrecting is effected because of the durability loss.

Great game though, on test 2, lvl 22 Night Elf Druid.

Loving the pvp in it too, some tauren/undead griefers were attacking near Astranaar in Ashenvale. Was in a group of about 20 people who quickly dispatched them.

Try playing now... They did a server restart and a small patch i hear tonite and everyone is reporting the lag is down in a MAJOR way..

Atleasst it looks like the devs look for a prob and fix it FAST when they can not like so many othe morpgs...

Anyway im goin back in 6 hours sleep and its like im goin cold turkey

something strange about betas , u play for a long time leveling your character and then you have to start again......... kida like a kick in the balls

On the 26th of November, World of Warcraft will be available for pre-order throughout Europe. With more than 330,000 Closed Beta applications received and limited quantities available at launch, players are encouraged to pre-order in order to guarantee their copy of the game. Players who pre-order World of Warcraft at participating retailers will also receive a bonus Soundtrack “EP” at the time of pre-order as well as a personal “Authentication Key” providing guaranteed access in to the European Final Beta Test, once it goes live.

The US, New Zealand, Australia release is the 23rd November. Apparently we'll get it about 2 months later. I've heard they're supposed to be making it pretty difficult for Euros to use the US version i.e. checking IPs, need american billing address etc. Have to double check. God damn localisation and server setup.

Hard to get attached to characters when you know they could be wiped at any time.

maybe some of the beta testers are willing to let you play on their account on the last day but that means downloading the 2.3 gigs or something client... if i were you, i'd wait for the final release.

Problem with that is you mightn't see it till february next year

. They have mentioned a European beta though, and hopefully by then the server issues should be sorted.

Well i hear that the beta will be over at the weekend, the game goes retail in the US on the 23rd i believe so the beta will be over a day or so before that to allow them to clear and re-set the game servers and make any changes/patches that are required..

I must say that sofar about 50% of folk iv met ingame have been from Europe

well if the US croud hogged our euro beta it looks like we went and took over the US one

Anyway as someone allrdy said IM HOOKED, i cant wait for this game...

Looks like the beta ends tomorrow (18th). Bah, I'm going to miss my level 26 Priest.
