    Gibson 'The Paul'

A friend of mine has been telling me about how fantastic this guitar was when he heard and saw it a couple of years ago. However, on searching the Gibson site, I found that it was a basic no frills effort and it's a discontinued model, last produced about 5-6 years ago.

Has anyone any knowledge of it or where one could be got? Second hand included, because he offered to buy it from the owner, but he said he wouldn't part with it. He obviously values it highly!

My mate is determined to find one, even to the point of selling his American Tele. Personally, I wouldn't, cos the Tele is magnificent. But it's his call.

    Thanks

    Damo

Is this it? The Paul II

Yeah, that's the one, there were a couple of different versions, 'The Paul II' and 'The Paul SL', but both are now discontinued. But there's one out there somewhere, I'm sure.

I've seen a couple on Ebay before, I think they had a walnut body but thats about all I know about them. Chris Guitars might be worth a look also

    Hey,

How long does it take chris ship guitars? I like what he has to offer just need to know how long it takes to get here.

Also can ya take his word on the quality of the product?

Apparently he exaggerates the flaws. So yeah, he's a decent guy.

On the subject of "The Paul", they were just really simple Les Pauls with Walnut bodies as far as I know. Can find a few on EBay occasionally but they're few and far between. I'd say the tone off the walnut is fairly interesting though.

Yeah, he tells you about nicks and scratches you have to really go looking for. A mate of mine has just bought a fourth guitar from Chris, fourth in about six months. You decide which shipping option you want, about a week - pricey but worth it, or slower - cheaper but not worth the wait.

    The guy is top class.

    Doctor,

If I send him an email, I presume he'd let me know as soon as one comes in and any details about it too. He certainly does well on the pics of his stock, showing plenty of detail. And as told already, very upfront about nicks and scratches.

Thanks to everyone for all the replies so far.

You really have to wonder how Irish sites are still so backward in comparison to the American and UK guitar retailers.

It's Ireland. Music shops are for the most part (in the country at least) run by farmers! They've never even heard of the intarweb

We should sell guitars off the Boards.ie shop, clearly.

Hmmm, your ideas intruige me... How much of a cut would we get :p

Would we not be buying them all too, though?

Depends on supply and demand, my friend. We buy cheap, and sell slightly less cheap! It'll be less than your extortionate pricing system anyway!

Buy them wholesale though. You know yourself that there's 45% for the shop owners on guitars. Well, on ESPs and LTDs anyway. Get Ibanez's straight from the factory in Japan.

We could probably afford it out of the markup though!

Selling guitars though... it's just not right. It'd be like selling your pet puppy to the pikies

But would you not sell puppies to pikies to get an uber puppy with mechanical legs and a laser on his head for almost half price?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,312 ✭✭✭mr_angry

Alright. You buy them, I'll sell them.

    What a great deal! :p
