    Easy, peasy lemon squeezy:

    Read the rules RMulryan
    Max of 2 numbers each (5 total) from 1 - 10 and only 1 of 25/50/75/100

I must tune into the show again - I can't remember if two (or more) of 25/50/75/100 are allowed on Countdown proper or not. Originally, I would have said no, but I remember thinking that I've seen a few right eejits on the show who have mastery over big numbers and often come up with puzzles a bit like this one to throw their opponents off.

Maybe you should read the rules too doh.ie :D

In the show itself there are cards facing downwards containing the numbers that can be selected. There is one each of 25, 50, 75, 100 and 2 each of the numbers 1 to 10. So, the multiples of 25 up to 100 can be in your selection only once or not at all and the smaller ones up to a maximum of twice.

    5 + 4 + 1 = 10
    100 - 2 = 98
    98 * 10 + 3 = 983

Meh. Not sure why I thought I'd seen multiples of the 100 multiples on TV, but I thought I had. Maybe I was confusing it with the possibility of having *no* large numbers. One would be make puzzles reasonably possible, the other not at all.

    4 x 10 = 40
    40 + 6 = 46
    46 / 2 = 23

    8 x 100 = 800
    800 - 23 = 777

    Closet genius.

    I'm impressed.

    general inquiry.

If you get banned on politics forum, do you end up banned here too ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,560 ✭✭✭Boro

    This is SCI>Maths
    Politics is Soc>Politics

You can be banned from one or both, or boards itself. Being banned from one folder doesnt necessarily mean being banned from them all

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭Dave

No, unless you do something on this board worthy of a banning.

    Going, going gone.........

    75 - 9 = 66
    66 x (5 + 3) = 528
    528 - 9 + 4 = 523
