Well, college had promised us by this year their intranet link would work - it does not.
Meaning, can only access timetable server within college.

Proxy setup on Netsoc to college Intranet & Timetables ; links via our main page [ http://www.netsoc.itcarlow.ie ].

Hopefully will have our mobile timetable server running soon [access timetables via java app on phone].

    Timetables change on Friday evenings.

Thanks to our developer for all this -- s4dd

why not just make a WML version of it? far easier.

That's a good question... There are two "main" reasons for the use of a java app and not wml.

First, wml can not ("easily"... without the use of an app) provide permanent storage.. hence, every time you want to look at a timetable, you must go online. Using an app like TTSrvUI allows a user to just press a button (or two!!) on their phone and view the timetable... This brings us onto the second main reason for using a java app...

Having the data stored persistantly and locally on the platform allows the use of different user interfaces to this data.. for example a "now and next" view that only shows a user (you've guessed it) where they're ment to be and what they have next (and where!)

Further more, having an app like this can allow for easy extensions making functions like renewing library books over mobile devices easy peasy.

Anywho, in response, i did think of just writing a pretty WML site and having users connect in the normal way, but decided that a java app would allow more features (and cost less!)

    regards,
