Amazon list 2004

If anyone has suggestions for books/games/other stuff that should go on the list or cheaper places to source the goods post them up here.

Links to anything you think should go up would be a good thing as amazon can be a rats nest when you're trying to find something specific without full details.

If I recall correctly from last year, soft toys and stuff that could potentially carry germs are a no-no for hospitals but given the SSF is hitting a wider set of organisations they may be a good idea.

What about a ring around of the hospitals to see what stuff they would like/find most useful? I'm sure they'd have some stuff they'd prioritise.

Big Dragon has volunteered to do this (and has already a long list of contacts).

Dapper, Henbane will you guys manage the lists this year? There'll be a more then one and with more then one supplier (we cant get everything from Amazon as cheap as some local alternatives...).

I'm about to put up a list of posts/roles I want volunteers for this year to help, everything from distribution teams to online organisers. I reckon we'll have about 10 people on the team this year which will hopefully make it easier to share out the work etc. (not to mention stopping me from losing my mind).

Boohbahs (difficult to find for some reason)

Bob T Builder (fights break out over this one, beware)

*puke* Barney *puke* (I hate it but kids love the fat purple monstrosity)
Yes it's all telly stuff - for those that are telly-haters, you've never seen a one year old watching Boohbahs, it's incredible.

Notes:
#1 Buy Hardback books, not paperbacks, they'll last longer in baby hands.

#2 I haven't linked the stuff because most of the stuff you need is listed as bestellers under the author, and for something like Thomas the entries are just too numerous (they have their own Amazon categories).

#3 In this case, remember that educationamal books are not too popular with kids being sick wanting to be entertained.

#4 Pop-up books are great but will last about 2-3 seconds so are pointless.

#5 Basically, pick the bestseller videos (assuming the recipients have or are getting something to play them with), and illustrated story books that are customer-rated and you can't go wrong.

For older kids, I haven't got that far.
Philip Pullman, Lemoney Snicket, Potter, Kipling, all good reads. Kids tv now is trash.
Agree with sticklebricks though. Don't get me started on the demise of Lego. *curses commercial tie-ins* Meccano? I suppose it's all consoles and mobile phones these days.

Ok, Dapper Henbane, get crackin! I'm aiming to have the lists up an running by the end of the week along with the website. Things are coming together slowly but very well (I'm glad I started in Oct!!)
