getting building plans for a new house from the developers?

    Hi folks,
Is it possible to get the house building plans from a development company? We're after putting a booking deposit down on a new house which is currently under construction so we're pretty much in the dark on room metrics, what electrics they're putting in, etc.

Anyone know if we can get such details from the builders or development company?

Also, anyone know if it's possible to ask for modifications in mid-build? e.g. can you ask for them to put in a door to join two rooms, etc. ?

    Cheers,
    B.

I imagine it's just a question of asking for them. Say you are looking for them for buying furniture.

Electrical points etc. are usually on the brochure plans.

If they "refuse" (which would make me suspicious), just go to the local council planning office and ask for a copy of the planning permisison drawings.

You can ask certainly, doing the changes now will be cheaper than later, but may not individually be good value. Too many changes and the builder is likely to refuse.
