Javascript - Netscape/IE problem

    You'd never guess, a problem with getting something to run under both smile.gif

    The below works perfect in IE5, in NS it doesn't put the value into the form element, and it doesn't throw up an error.

    function closePopup(formname,elementname,value) {

    document.forms.item(formname).elements.item(elementname).value = value;

    }

    Its a simple little routine:
    The page with this routine opens a new browser window (a calander btw), passing the formname and element name to it.

    when you click on a date on the window, it closes and executes the above routine, passing back the form name, element name & a value to stick into that particular element.

    Its doing my head in ...
